Privacy Policy
One Thing gives you one small task a day. There is no account, no sign-in and no sync. Everything you write in the app stays in the app's storage on your phone. The app has no analytics and no crash reporting: the only thing that ever leaves your device is the purchase itself, and only if you choose to buy.
What stays on your device
| What | Where it is stored | Leaves the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Your notes, written under a completed task | Local database on the phone, in the completions table | No |
| Which days you completed, and how long the timer ran | Same local database | No |
| Which task each day was assigned | Same local database, in the day_assignments table | No |
| Your settings: the track you chose, your reminder time, whether the day count is shown, whether onboarding is done | App preferences on the phone | No |
| A random install identifier, created on your phone the first time the app opens. It is the seed that decides the order your tasks arrive in, so your sequence differs from everyone else's. | Android Keystore backed storage | No |
Android backup is switched off for this app, so none of the above is copied into your Google Drive backup. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
What leaves your device
One thing, and only if you buy the unlock: the purchase itself.
| What is sent | To whom | Why | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purchase information for the one time unlock, including the store receipt and an anonymous purchase identifier generated by the purchase service. Your install identifier is not sent with it. | RevenueCat, and Google Play as the payment processor | To check that the unlock was paid for, and to restore it if you reinstall or change phone. | Only when you buy or restore a purchase |
If you never buy, nothing at all leaves your device. The app works offline and never asks you to create an account.
What we never collect
- Your notes. They are never uploaded, to us or to anyone else.
- Analytics of any kind. The app does not measure which screens you open, which tasks you complete or how long you stay. There is no analytics service in it.
- Crash reports. The app sends no diagnostics, no error reports and no device information.
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account. There is no sign in.
- Your location.
- Your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera. The app never asks for them.
- An advertising identifier. There are no ads and no ad networks in this app.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
Third parties
- RevenueCat: receives the purchase information described above, and nothing else. Their privacy policy.
- Google Play: processes the payment itself. We never see your card details. Their privacy policy.
There are no other services in the app.
Children
One Thing is written for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect anything from children. The app asks for no personal information from anyone, so a child using it would be in the same position as any other user: everything written stays on the phone. If you believe a child has used the app and you want the data removed, deleting the notes in Settings or uninstalling the app removes all of it from the device.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your notes at any time: Settings, then Delete my notes. This cannot be undone.
- Turn off the daily reminder in Settings, or revoke the notification permission in your phone settings.
- Remove everything by uninstalling the app.
Because everything except a purchase stays on your phone, there is no profile of you for us to hand over, correct or erase. If you bought the unlock and want the purchase record removed, write to the address below with your Google Play order number and we will ask the purchase service to delete it. Deleting it also removes your ability to restore the unlock on a new device.
[TO CONFIRM: which regimes to name here, based on where the app is published: GDPR for the EEA, KVKK for Turkiye, CCPA for California.]
Data retention and deletion
- Notes, completions, settings and the install identifier stay on your phone until you delete them or uninstall the app. We never hold a copy.
- Purchase records are kept by RevenueCat and by Google Play for as long as they need them to support refunds and restores.
Changes to this policy
If what the app does with data changes, this page changes with it and the effective date at the top is updated. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play. If a future version ever adds analytics or crash reporting, this page will say so before that version ships.
